The administration of Arkhangelsk in the section “House of Arkhangelsk” told about the building on the embankment of the Northern Dvina, 100.
The six-storey brick house was built in 1985. It was one of the last residential buildings erected on the main embankment of the city during the Soviet period. There are 71 apartments and elevators.
The author of the house project is Vadim Kibiriev. From 1960 he was the chief architect of Arkhangelsk, and from 1968 to 1992 he headed the regional department of urban planning and architecture. Apartments in this house were not distributed among all waiting lists - it was not easy to get here.
From 1986 to 1998, Ksenia Petrovna Hemp lived in this house - a scientist, researcher of the Russian North, an honorary citizen of Arkhangelsk. There is a memorial plaque on the house.
It was here that the famous “Evenings at Hemp” took place. They gathered scientists, local historians, journalists, writers and just passionate about the history and culture of the Russian North people. Guests read reports on various topics, discussed new books, scientific discoveries and theatrical premieres.
In 2020, the yard of house No. 100 was landscaped under the program “Formation of a comfortable urban environment”. There was a playground, there were benches. The pavement was used not only for sidewalks, but also for driveways and parking.
