These are the St. Nicholas Church in the village of Storozhno of the Volkhov district and the Church of St. George in Old Ladoga.
St. Nicholas Church built in 1595 is all that has survived to this day from the once grandiose ensemble of the Nikolo-Storozhensky monastery on the shore of Ladoga. It is presented in the nomination “The best Russian implemented project for the restoration of a religious building”. Its full restoration was completed in 2026.
In the same nomination, the white-stone church of St. George of the XII century in Old Ladoga is presented. It is one of the oldest temples in Russia. In 2024-2025, the facades and roof were restored, the cross, the masonry of the walls, windows and doors were restored. The restoration helped to preserve the unique pre-Mongol frescoes inside the temple.
This year, the 2 Golden Trezzini Awards have their ninth season. 1,520 projects from 48 countries in 24 nominations were submitted. The finalists of the jury will be determined on October 20. The winners will be announced on November 20 at the Hermitage.
