The general run of the premiere play “One Day to the End of the World” based on Ray Bradbury’s novels “Fahrenheit 451” and “The End of the World Tomorrow” took place at the Youth Theatre. The correspondent of the agency “Minsk-Novosti” found out what is remarkable new production.
The production group, which included Anatoly Lagutenkov (director and author of the staging), Kirill Baltrukov (plastic and dance) tried in the theater foyer to immerse the audience in a fantastic atmosphere. There was a pile of books from which the men in black took them for destruction. There was an announcement that the end of the world was only 10 minutes away.

In the meantime, a man-made garbage dump unfolded on the stage. Molten plastic, a book-burning device and an unpleasant smell all plunged into the atmosphere of a new world, where virtual reality replaced real life, art went into oblivion. Books are banned and burned by special firefighters, people are consumed by screens on which entertainment shows go.

The planet is on the verge of disaster, but its inhabitants do not notice it. If the mood spoils and anxious thoughts arise, pills are offered - they help to forget and have fun further. People are "happy." Salamander Corporation will do anything to keep it that way. Among those who serve in its structure is Guy Montag. He works diligently until he sees the death of a woman in whose house the books were kept. It burns with them. And then the hero begins to wonder what is really happening in this strange world and whether everyone is really happy.

The play explores themes of catastrophe, the fragility of the world and the rethinking of life, the value of which lies in simple everyday moments.

The premiere will take place on September 18.
