How the famous family of artists from Yalta leads people to creativity
Do you know who the ascetics are? For me, they are enthusiasts who not only work day in and day out to improve their skills and personal spiritual growth, but also want to share their experiences with others. It is such people that you can fully call the married couple from Yalta - artists Anna and Vyacheslav Slyusar, owners of the Art Storm art studio.

On the day of our meeting in the southern capital of Crimea, there were still serious power outages, but in the studio on Pavlenko Street, 5, it was light from the smiles of hospitable hosts. The same bright, juicy, overflowing emotions and warmth were their paintings presented in the studio.
About when the studio began its work, why it bears such a name and what lives today, we told Anna Valeryevna, artist, designer, teacher.
Birth of artists
Our studio was founded in 2015 on the basis of art workshops of the Yalta city branch of the Union of Artists of Russia. She specializes in teaching fine arts and creative skills of children of preschool and adolescence, regularly takes part in all cultural and educational events of the city, conducts free master classes for children from large families to identify young talents and popularize fine arts among children and young people.
For 11 years, the studio has become a real center of creative inspiration: creative talents are revealed here, the aesthetic and artistic worldview of the younger generation is formed.
Why did they call the studio “Artstorm”? – I ask Anna.
As I mentioned above, we work with children. At a young age, they often “storm”, they do not know where to direct their energy, how to dispose of it, how to get out of this “storm” with minimal losses. We help to direct their potential in the right direction, we work with children not only creatively, but also psycho-emotionally. And you know how joyful it is to see when a child who came to the studio confused, sometimes even depressed, after a few classes is transformed literally before his eyes, becomes open, uninhibited, spiritualized.
Sometimes adults come to us in this state, adds Vyacheslav Vyacheslavovich. - Recently, for example, a specialist working in the field of information technology came to the studio. I look at him and see that the person is in the stage of serious emotional burnout. What's the matter? The answer is, “I don’t want anything!” I said, "Congratulations!" The guy wonders, "With what?" Explain: “If you’ve wasted yourself to zero, it’s time to start climbing up. And we'll help you with that! And we really do help, without that.
But the main achievement of the Slyusar spouses is that over the past decade, about 300 children were trained in Art Storm. Every year at least five of their pupils enter art universities of the country for creative specialties. And recently, the works of students of the studio Angelina Kolycheva, Nikolai Gorbatoy, Renata Panfilova, having passed a preliminary selection in Moscow, took part in an international presentation in Dubai, at the prestigious SEE Institute. Of the ten young Russians, three were from Yalta!
Continuing family traditions
In the studio, in addition to the works of young Yalta residents, paintings by Vyacheslav and Anna Slyusar themselves and, of course, their relatives, whose names are well known to the creative world, Stepan and Lyudmila Djus, are presented.
Unfortunately, Stepan Petrovich has already passed away. This year, he, the People’s Artist of Ukraine, could be 85 years old. But his paintings live on – they are in galleries and private collections around the world. Working in the field of monumental and decorative art, painting, graphics, together with his wife he created frescoes, mosaics, stained glass windows, sgraffito, tapestries. By the way, it was in the tapestry technique that the huge talent of this creative family was most revealed.
More than a hundred tapestries today are not only in our country, but also abroad (in Japan, Canada, USA, Austria, Hungary).
A worthy creative successor of the Jus family was their nephew Vyacheslav Slyusar, a graduate of the easel painting faculty of the Kyiv State Art Institute, a member of the Union of Artists of Russia. Behind his shoulders more than 25 years of pedagogical experience.
A characteristic feature of Vyacheslav’s works is not only that he is in love with the beautiful Yalta and depicts it on almost all his canvases. Each of the works is performed in a rather unusual round format.
The rectangle and the square are forms born of human thought, while the circle is the embodiment of natural harmony: it lives in the pupil of the eye, nature and outlines of the Earth, Anna Valeryevna smiles.
This autumn, Vyacheslav Slyusar will celebrate a significant date - his 60th birthday. And recently, in August, Anna Valeryevna and Vyacheslav Vyacheslavovich celebrated the 15th anniversary of married life.
The family has three children - 15-year-old Alexandra, 13-year-old Vyacheslav, 10-year-old Maxim. Everyone, following the example of their parents, is engaged in creativity, grows curious, inquisitive, creative people who try their hand at various types of art. This means that the creative dynasty continues!
