The Lipetsk State Philharmonic was headed by Mikhail Myasnikov, conductor, composer and artistic director, who since 2023 worked in the region as the chief conductor of the symphony orchestra.
The decision to appoint him was a logical continuation of his work in Lipetsk, where he managed to take the orchestra to a new level in a short time.
Mikhail Myasnikov was born on February 12, 1986 in the city of Engels, Saratov region. At the age of six he entered the Alfred Schnittke Musical and Aesthetic Lyceum, graduating in 2002. Then followed by the Saratov State Conservatory named after L.V. Sobinov – he graduated in 2007, and in 2016 he passed an assistantship-internship there under the program “Art of Composition”.
Behind Myasnikov – the leadership of children’s music school No. 1 of the Engels district (from 2011 to 2016) and the administration of culture of the Engels municipal district (2016-2017). In November 2022, he was elected chairman of the Saratov regional creative composition organization “Union of Composers of Russia”.
One of Myasnikov’s key projects was the creation of the Volga Chamber Orchestra in Engels in 2012. The team, assembled from young professional musicians, conducted active touring and educational activities, presenting to residents of the Saratov region both classical works and popular translations of different eras and genres.
Mikhail Myasnikov came to Lipetsk in 2023 – specifically to create and lead the Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra. Until this moment, such a collective as part of the Lipetsk Philharmonic simply did not exist. Under the leadership of Myasnikov, the orchestra quickly gained popularity: concerts were sold out, and the Union Philharmonic itself was recognized as one of the best venues in the country.
In February 2026, the orchestra under Myasnikov performed in the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, a landmark event for the regional team. In the repertoire - Shostakovich and Sibelius, Vivaldi and Piazzolla, Brahms and Dvorak.
Myasnikov’s appointment as head of the Philharmonic consolidates the course for the development of academic music in the region, which began with the arrival of the conductor in Lipetsk three years ago.
