Pskov Academic Drama Theater named after A. S. Pushkin hosted a grand evening dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the Pskov Museum-Reserve - one of the oldest museum institutions in the country. The official countdown of history is conducted since 1876, when the first exhibition opened for visitors, although the collection itself began to form in 1872 on the initiative of Ivan Vasilev.
The general director of the museum Svetlana Melnikova addressed the guests with a congratulatory speech. She called this anniversary special, emphasizing the “powerful” status of the institution among 4,047 museums in Russia. According to her, working in a museum requires complete dedication, blurring the boundaries between personal and professional.
“Museums are islands of authenticity and importance. They give people a colossal luxury - the opportunity to look at the world through the centuries, Melnikova said. Quoting the famous architect, she uttered the phrase that became the motto of the evening: "At the word of Pskov, you want to stand up." The CEO also wished the guests to hear the lines of the poem “I will take you to the museum” as often as possible in their lives.
