The next chapter is already written: in Brest began to prepare XXXI “White Vezha”

The thirtieth "White Vezha" has ended, but there is no final point in the work of the organizers. While the audience is discussing the latest performances of the anniversary program, the next chapter of the festival history is already taking shape behind the scenes. Negotiations with potential participants of the XXXI forum began more than six months ago.

At the opening of the anniversary "White Vezhya" Minister of culture Marat Markov called 30 years of childhood for the festival and expressed hope that it will live forever. Now these words do not just sound like a holiday wish. The new forum has not yet received a poster, but work on it is already underway.

Each new "White Vezha" begins long before the names of the performances appear on the posters. The full training cycle takes about a year and a half. The organizers review the works of theaters, meet with their leaders at professional forums and discuss possible tours. On average, 70-80 applications are received in Brest, of which the future program will be selected.

The choice of the play does not end with an assessment of the director’s plan and acting work. It is necessary to understand whether the production will be able to go to Brest, whether its scenery will fit on the selected stage and how long it will take specialists to edit. The decision is influenced by team schedules, logistics and travel financing. Therefore, the path from the first conversation to the release of artists to the Brest audience can take months.

According to the general director of the Brest Academic Drama Theatre Anna Senkovets, the first conversations about the XXXI festival began even before the anniversary opening:

Work always starts about a year and a half before the event. With some potential participants of the next “White Vezha” we began to communicate more than six months ago. The format of this festival turned out to be worthy, so we want to preserve its strengths and develop them further.

So far, the organizers do not name theaters, countries and productions that may be included in the new program.

At the same time, the next “White Vezha” will not be a simple continuation of the anniversary. The thirtieth festival was built around its own “golden fund”. In Brest returned teams that have already become laureates and remembered by the public. At the end of the anniversary, this page is turned. Now the organizers have to decide what idea to combine the new program and what names to open to the audience.

This choice takes place away from the stage - in correspondence, travel, viewing and long negotiations. But just now, when the scenery of the last performance has already been dismantled, the path to the next lifting of the curtain begins.
