Smolensk youth represented Russia at the festival in Mogilev

The opening ceremony of the XIX International Festival “Youth for the Union State” took place in the Belarusian Mogilev. The event, which will last from 7 to 11 October, is held on the initiative of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia. Its main goals are to preserve common historical memory, develop cultural potential and support talented youth.

The festival brought together more than 300 participants aged 14 to 25 years from different regions of Belarus and Russia. The program includes contests of youth song performers and choreographic groups, master classes from jury members, creative laboratories and excursions to historical places.

The central event was the Youth Forum of the Union State “Memory”. Choice. Responsibility", which was held in the Museum of Glory of Mogilev. More than 100 young historians, parliamentarians and experts took part in the plenary session.

The Smolensk region was represented at a high level by assistants of the Department of State and Legal Disciplines of Smolensk State University Evgeny Pushkarev and Vadim Kononovich. State Duma deputy Artem Turov also took part in the forum. The participants discussed the preservation of historical truth, the value foundations of law and sovereign development in the context of modern challenges.

Ahead of the participants are the competitive semifinals, the patriotic action “Candle of Memory” on the Buinich Field and a gala concert.

Governor Vasily Anokhin noted that this festival once again reminds us that Russia and Belarus share a common history and values, and young people are the living force that carefully preserves this relationship between generations.
