American director Quentin Tarantino’s first theatrical play, The Drinking Cavalier, will be released on the London stage in March 2027. According to the Associated Press, citing representatives of Sony Pictures Entertainment and Sonya Friedman Productions, the play will be the director’s theatrical debut.
The action of the comedy takes place in Europe in the 1830s. Producers characterize it as an adventure story in which deception and dressing are combined with elements of classic adventure works.
The production will be directed by Tarantino himself. One of the roles will be performed by British actor Sacha Baron Cohen, known to viewers by the images of Borat and Ali G. For him, the performance will be his first appearance on the stage of the London West End.
The actor said he agreed to the director's offer without hesitation. According to him, the invitation from Tarantino did not require additional thought.
Preliminary screenings will begin on February 23, 2027, and the official premiere is scheduled for March 18. The performance will be presented at the Phoenix Theater.
Tarantino is known as the creator of the films “Reservoir Dogs”, “Pulp Fiction” and “Inglourious Basterds”. His last feature-length film was the film “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood”, presented in 2019.
In November, the continuation of the story about Cliff Booth is also expected. The script was written by Tarantino, the project was directed by David Fincher, and Brad Pitt again played a former Hollywood stuntman.
