Sochi hosts festive events dedicated to the 135th anniversary of the consecration of the Cathedral of Archistratig Mikhail

Sochi hosts festive events dedicated to the 135th anniversary of the consecration of the Cathedral of Archistratig Michael. The celebrations were organized on October 10 and 11.
In honor of the anniversary date, an all-night vigil and Divine Liturgy were held in the temple. Divine services were conducted by the managing director of the Moscow Patriarchate, Metropolitan Gregory of Voskresen, the head of the Kuban Metropolia, Metropolitan Vasily of Catherine and Kuban, as well as Bishop Herman of Sochi and Tuapse.
The head of Sochi Andrey Proszcznin stressed the historical significance of the cathedral for the resort. According to him, in the past, the temple was the center of the posad of Sochi, and Archistratig Michael is considered the heavenly patron of the city.
During its history, the cathedral has experienced difficult periods when there was a threat of its destruction. During the Great Patriotic War, the temple was reopened, and in the 1990s it was completely restored. Currently, the building is under state protection as an architectural monument.
Today, the cathedral remains one of the most important centers of the spiritual life of the city and part of its historical heritage.
As part of the celebration on the cypress alley of the church complex, an exhibition “History of the Cathedral of Archistratig Michael in Faces” was opened. A presentation of an electronic information stand dedicated to the cathedral is also planned.
Earlier it was reported that the resort will hold a youth forum “Compose meanings”.
