Future technologies and cultural code: what will surprise the XIX festival "Youth - for the Union State" in Mogilev

The XIX festival “Youth for the Union State”, which will be held in Mogilev from 7 to 11 October, will be a symbiosis of national traditions and modern technologies. About it during a press conference dedicated to the upcoming competition, told its organizers, reports sb.by.

This year the festival will bring together more than 300 participants from all regions of Belarus and many regions of Russia. The program includes competitions of performers of youth songs and choreographic groups. Honored Artist of Belarus Irina Dorofeeva, Chairman of the Vocal Competition Jury, shared that the internal content of each number, whether it is vocal performance or choreography, is extremely important for her:

- However, it is even more important to see how the youth of today relate to the topic of patriotism. Our festival gathers such motivated young people who are ready to perform works that are relevant for each of us today. Now it is fundamentally important for us not only to preserve the independence of our countries and the status of our Union State, but also to convey to everyone the idea of how valuable peace is. I have no doubt that the guys will be perfectly prepared vocally, but the main thing is how these things will feel. The festival will help them to become even more educated, to touch our historical memory and past. I am sure that young people will surprise us again.

Behind every successful number on stage is a huge work behind the scenes. Irina Dorofeeva emphasized the special role of directors, organizers and everyone who put a lot of effort into the preparatory stage:

Mogilev is my homeland, and I am sure that everyone who comes to us for the first time will be absolutely delighted. I'm grateful for this project. I myself have visited the festival in Rostov-on-Don many times and I remember this amazing feeling: we ourselves seem to be getting younger by 30 years, being charged by the guys with this incredible energy. The festival is alive and it should live a long time.

The upcoming festival “Youth for the Union State” will be a unique and most emotional project in the history of its holding. This was stated by the Russian director and artistic director of the festival Nikolai Krupatin. He recalled that the organizers had to quickly solve complex logistical problems: the festival was originally planned in Smolensk, but later it was decided to hold it in Mogilev for the second year in a row. According to the director, from a creative point of view, this move is justified, because Belarus has historically preserved a reverent attitude to folk traditions:

- The main characters of the festival will be talented, charged and technologically advanced guys and girls. These are children born in the age of technology. Over the past ten years, the world has changed as it has for a century. But at the same time, the digital world has slightly stolen a unique sense of folk art. Our goal at the festival is to connect two incredible universes: new technologies that young people will teach us, and the rich cultural experience that we have accumulated over the years of work.

The director noted that the modern technological revolution has given creative people freedom, but at the same time created a huge problem – today it is incredibly difficult for the author to be heard in the global pink noise. Every day on the world streaming platforms poured more than 150 thousand songs, not to mention the huge flow of content in social networks. Noticing the true talent in this array is becoming increasingly difficult. The organizers of the festival conducted a tough selection and literally manually led each participant. In Mogilev, experts and mentors will work with children individually to suggest what their main creative force is and how to realize themselves in order to be heard by millions.

The festival is held on the initiative of deputies of the Parliamentary Assembly. It was first held in Anapa in 2006. From 2007 to 2019, the festival was held in the Rostov region, from 2022 to 2024 - on the territory of the Smolensk region. In 2025, the festival was first hosted by Belarus, the venue was the city of Mogilev.
