According to the Federal National and Cultural Autonomy of Belarusians of Russia, 81 public organizations of the Belarusian diaspora are registered in 44 regions of the country, including 16 regional and 33 local national and cultural autonomy. One of the most striking examples of the work of such organizations was the activities of the regional national-cultural autonomy “Kaliningrad Community of Belarusians”.
This organization, which celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2026, is known far beyond the region. With his participation and support in Kaliningrad, a monument to Francisk Skaryna, bronze coats of arms of Belarusian regional centers in the square of Belarusian-Russian friendship were erected, and Belarusian masters and sculptors contributed to the creation and design of a number of urban objects. The organization conducts regular cultural and educational work.
In October, the first regional festival “National families of the Baltic” was held in Kaliningrad, organized with the grant support of the Ministry for Municipal Development and Internal Policy of the Kaliningrad region. The festival, dedicated to the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia, brought together eight families representing Belarusian, Azerbaijani, Lithuanian, Russian, Korean, Yakut, Tatar and Mordovian cultures. From the Kaliningrad community of Belarusians, the family of Irina Fattakhova performed at the festival. The program included a video presentation about the heritage, and on the national courtyard were presented household items and family relics: clay products, homespun towels and covers the works of mother and grandmother Irina, archival photos and cymbals. The guests got acquainted with Belarusian traditions and family experience, and also tried traditional treats - draniki, palyandvitsa and baked potatoes with squarks.
