Makhachkala hosts the IX All-Russian Theatre Festival "Russian Stage", which involves 14 professional Russian drama theaters from different regions of the country.
The opening took place in the Kumyk Music and Drama Theatre: the bands staged a procession in bright costumes, and the presenters told the audience about the history of the theaters and their best performances. The first at the festival was the Kazan Academic Russian Bolshoi Drama Theater named after V. I. Kachalov – he first showed in Dagestan “Mad Day, or the Marriage of Figaro”.
The festival was attended by theaters of Bashkortostan, Tatarstan, Kalmykia, Adygea, Ingushetia and Karachay-Cherkessia, as well as from Mariupol and Donetsk.
In addition to the performances, master classes and “Theater Meetings” are planned with honored guests – People’s Artists of Russia Evgeny Knyazev and Alexander Slavutsky, Honored Artist of Russia Mikhail Morozov and Honored Worker of Culture of Russia Maria Ossovskaya.
