In Mari El completed the editing of the film “Mari Tales – 2”
The film almanac of four novels “Maria Tales – 2”, created in 24 filming shifts with the participation of filmmakers from 15 cities, will be released this autumn.
Director Denis Shablii announced the final stage of the preparation of the film almanac “Maria Tales – 2”. The project, which received a grant from the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives and the support of the authorities of the republic, became a landmark event for the regional film industry.
Filming took place in four districts of the republic in June and took just 24 shifts. Hundreds of specialists and beginners worked on the film as part of the educational "Cinema Laboratory", where the best of thousands of applications from all over Russia were selected.
“We wanted to show the diversity of Mari culture through nature, language and traditions,” Shablii said. Production director Maria Polos noted that the team managed to maintain a high level of image and maintain the unique visual style of each novel, despite tough deadlines.
A separate part of the project, the novella Chumbylat, is already successfully touring festivals and collecting positive reviews. The full-length film, which raises the themes of traditional values and love for their roots, will be premiered in the autumn of 2026 in Yoshkar-Ola and ten other regions of the country.
