A unique event took place in the church of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God in the village of Pushkin Mountains. For the first time in a century and a half, parishioners and employees of the Mikhailovsky Museum-Reserve were presented with ancient icons that have undergone professional restoration and returned to the church iconostasis.
Work on the restoration of the shrines was carried out with the blessing of Bishop Barnabas of Velikooluk and Nevelsk. The restoration attracted students of St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design. Under the guidance of mentors, five college students received their first serious professional experience: Yana Ivanova, Valery Lebedeva, Veronika Orlova, Elizaveta Portnai and Anastasia Fedorova.
Thanks to their painstaking work, several significant images were returned to the temple:
The Mikhailovsky Museum-Reserve, many of whose employees are parishioners of this temple, noted the special importance of the project. For students, this was an important step in the development of the profession, and for the reserve workers, an opportunity to preserve the spiritual heritage of their native place.
The Church of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God with its interior decoration is a holy and native place for us. Every good deed done for the Church, we perceive with hearty joy and deep gratitude, — said the press service of the Museum.
