In Serpukhov honored the memory of St. Innocent of Moscow
Today, on the day of memory of St. Innocent of Moscow, the Bishops’ Divine Service was held in the Cathedral of Nikola Bely in Serpukhov. The festive day continued with the consecration of the restored cross in the Kazan Church.

Saint Innocent is widely known for his missionary and educational activities and is revered throughout the Orthodox world. Together with hundreds of residents, the holiday was shared by Archbishop Aksy of Podolsk and Lyuberetsky.
The festive day continued in the Kazan Church: after the Liturgy, a restored cross over the altar was consecrated there. This is a particularly important event for the parish – the church has been reopened for almost 20 years and participates in the diocesan program for the restoration of destroyed shrines. Today is another step in his revival.
“Today’s holiday is not only a tribute to the memory of the great saint, but also a testimony that the spiritual life in Serpukhov continues to be revived. Saint Innocent devoted his whole life to the enlightenment of people, and we see how his legacy lives on in our churches and in the affairs of our residents. It is especially gratifying that the restoration of the Kazan church, which recently celebrated the 20th anniversary of the reopening, continues. The consecration of the restored cross is the result of the work of many people: clergy, parishioners, restorers and everyone who is not indifferent to the preservation of our history. Such events bring people together and remind us that history and faith live in our actions. Thank you to everyone involved in this work. I am sure that by joint efforts we will continue to revive the shrines of our city and make Serpukhov even more spiritually rich and attractive for life, said Alexey Shimko, head of the Serpukhov city district.
