Over 52,000 people are employed in Belarusian culture

More than 52,000 people are employed in Belarusian culture, 76% of them women. This was told to journalists on October 7 by the head of the department of state special cultural events of the Ministry of Culture of Belarus Inna Adamovich, the correspondent of the Minsk-Novosti agency reports.

Every year, cultural organizations admit about 1.5 thousand young specialists to their states. Almost half of employees have higher education, and since 2023 there has been a steady positive dynamics of growth in the number of employees with higher education.

There are 28 state theaters, 22 concert organizations and 2 circuses in Belarus. I. Adamovich noted that in recent years theatrical and entertainment organizations are working under a new funding mechanism “50 to 50” and effectively cope with the tasks set.

- The Ministry of Culture pays special attention to the renewal and preservation of the historical and cultural heritage of the country, the head of the department said. The construction of a new modern building of the National Art Museum of Belarus has reached the final stage. After the reconstruction, the Belarusian State Academy of Music was commissioned. Active restoration work continues in the building of the Maxim Gorky National Academic Drama Theater. Another important reconstruction of the Brest Hero Fortress memorial complex has been completed. With the financial support of the Union State, the memorial zone “Sorrow” was opened here, which became a deeply symbolic event.
