In Yaroslavl, work began to update the facade of the House of Officers, one of the most notable historical buildings in the city. News shared by the Governor of the region Mikhail Evraev.
- The repair of the facade of the House of Officers in Yaroslavl began. The building is an object of cultural heritage, one of the most significant historical and architectural monuments of the city, so it is important to give it a decent look, said Mikhail Evraev. - We'll finish the work before winter. The renovation will help preserve the historical appearance of the building, which continues to serve the cause of patriotic education.
Repair crews work on the facades facing Pervomaiskaya and Sovietskaya streets. Specialists will have to re-apply the plaster layer and cover the walls with paint. We are talking about cosmetic renewal of the appearance – the construction of the building is not affected, full restoration is not carried out.
The works are financed by a private investor, while the building itself remains in the ownership of the region and does not change its purpose.
Today, the Center for Patriotic Education operates within the walls of the House of Officers - it is part of the structure of the regional Youth Palace. The regional branch of the "Yunarmiya" is based here and there is a unique museum of local wars and military conflicts. In addition, the building has deployed the activities of the “Victory Volunteers”, the regional detachment “Law Order”, clubs of historical reenactors and an amateur theater that staged performances of patriotic themes. Close cooperation with veteran organizations is carried out, measures are organized to counter extremism, terrorism and neo-Nazism, protect the historical truth, as well as to perpetuate the memory of participants in a special military operation.
The building was erected at the end of the XVIII century by the landowner Shubin. Its history is directly connected with the events of the war of 1812: it was here that the headquarters of the Yaroslavl militia - the largest at that time - was located. Here they developed plans for combat operations and issued handwritten posters, from which the citizens learned about what was happening at the front.
In different eras, the office of the Governor-General was located within these walls, officer meetings were held, and at the beginning of the XX century the City Duma worked. In 1929, the building was converted into the House of the Red Army - marshals and generals arriving in Yaroslavl were solemnly welcomed here, exhibitions, film screenings and festive evenings were organized. After the end of the Great Patriotic War, the club was given the name “House of Officers”. In 2011, the regional government decided to create on the basis of this institution a regional organization of patriotic orientation - the Center for Patriotic Education.
