Residents of Sochi told why October 26 it is impossible to lend money and quarrel
On Monday, October 26, Karpov Day is celebrated, also known as Bathing

On Monday, October 26, Karpov Day is celebrated, also known as Bathing. This date is associated with ancient customs and beliefs concerning money, family relations and household affairs.
In the Orthodox calendar, October 26 is associated with the veneration of the Iberian Icon of the Mother of God and the memory of the Hieromartyr Karp and other martyrs.
In Russia, this day was traditionally dedicated to restoring order in the house and preparing the economy for the cold. Special attention was paid to baths: they were cleaned, furnaces were repaired and prepared for use.
A clear sunny day, according to ancient observations, promised short-term warming. The cold snap on this day was associated with the early arrival of winter, and fast-moving clouds were considered harbingers of bad weather.
For the residents of Sochi, these traditions are primarily of cultural interest: folk weather signs do not replace modern meteorological forecasts.
Note that these prohibitions refer to popular superstitions, and not to mandatory church regulations.
