Star "Oi! Kumena" or how in Chelyabinsk decided to connect space with history

These days are recognized all over the world as space, because exactly 69 years ago, the first artificial satellite of the Earth – the Soviet Sputnik 1 – was sent outside the Earth’s atmosphere. So in the space of the Information Center for Atomic Energy in Chelyabinsk, where the next salon “Oi! Kumena” gathered, they decided to spin conversations around space.

Stardust was saturated, every thread of this event. So while the guests were gathering, the atmosphere of the educational space known in the city was filled with the music of Shostakovich’s eleventh symphony “1905”. This work was written in 1957, when humanity interrupted its sedentary Earth and rushed beyond its home planet. When the guests sat at their tables, the meeting began with another near-space and at the same time near-historical music - they were waiting for a live performance of the composition "The Legend of Taganay". The work about the “stand of the moon” (such is the translation of the word “Taganai”, which made it possible for the salon’s hosts to tie the performance to space) was performed by Margarita Kasatkina (guitar, teacher of the Tchaikovsky Institute) and Elena Alfer (flute, Chelyabinsk Philharmonic). The author of this work, Margarita Kasatkina, was inspired by South Ural myths, history and nature when writing her music.

Later, the guests of the salon were able to learn about the cosmism of the life of South Ural nomads. Head of the Center for Ethnographic Research of the State Historical Museum Anna Zakirova not only told in detail how the cosmos looks out of the traditional elements of the Kazakh yurt and patterns of Kazakh carpets created once on the territory of the Chelyabinsk region, but also showed a personal collection of women’s jewelry before the nomadic people, in which ideas about the moon and the stars are hidden.

The space theme of the salon "Oh! Kumena" was picked up by the scientific secretary of the museum-reserve "Arkaim" Ilya Valiakhmetov. He told how modern archaeologists in the Chelyabinsk region with the help of satellite images discover new fortified settlements of the famous Country of Cities, whose population built its history in the Southern Trans-Urals more than four thousand years ago.

Repeatedly, discussions broke out in the salon. Someone tried to find out the astronomical essence of Arkaim, someone evaluated the capabilities of artificial intelligence when analyzing satellite images when searching for new archaeological sites, someone explained the roots of the month in Islamic symbolism. Within the framework of the salon, a new textbook on local history for pupils of 7 grades of schools of the Chelyabinsk region was also presented, as well as a local history game developed in one of the rural schools near Chelyabinsk. The salon "Ooh! Kumena" was again able to become a place for heartfelt and very informative conversations about history.

It should be noted that the hosts of the salon are: Yulia Pozdeeva, philologist, journalist and local historian, participant of the “Jeopardy Game” programs; Rifat Abdrashitov, teacher of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, member of the Union of Journalists and the Union of Designers of Russia; Andrey Trushnikov, journalist and historian, author of the “Antiquities” channel, director of information policy of the Granada Press media holding.

The next meeting in the salon is due to take place in November.
