"Cooper is the new gold," Dmitriev wrote.

The cost of copper on the Comex exchange on September 22 updated the historical maximum, rising to $6,903 per pound (about 1.28 million rubles per ton).

Earlier, copper futures on the London Metal Exchange updated the historical maximum, reaching $ 14,533 per ton. Since the beginning of the year, the metal has risen in price by 17% amid an imbalance of supply and demand and expectations of the possible introduction of US duties on imports of refined copper.
