Another 18 Rosatom employees have returned to Iran’s Bushehr nuclear power plant. The total number of Russian specialists at the NPP reached 63. This was reported by the head of the state corporation Alexei Likhachev.
Alexey Likhachev added that Rosatom is increasing the number of specialists at nuclear power plants, taking into account the situation in the Middle East. The situation at the site is calm, but significantly increase the number of personnel in Iran “is possible only after the final consolidation of the peace agreements between Iran and the United States,” he added.
“At the moment, the main efforts at construction are concentrated on the construction of reactor workshops and machine halls of two power units. The first operating unit carries a load of 100% power, Likhachev told reporters (quoted by Interfax).
Bushehr is the only operating nuclear power plant in Iran. Russia is building four power units on it, the work on the third should be completed in 2026. Before the start of the US-Israeli operation against Iran, there were 639 Rosatom employees at the facility, some of them were evacuated due to military actions between Iran and the United States. Russian employees began returning to the nuclear power plant in August.
