In the Voronezh region, the borsch index increased by more than 20%
Experts associate the increase in prices with the reduction of sown areas

The average cost of a set of five vegetables for borsch - potatoes, cabbage, onions, beets and carrots - in the Voronezh region reached 187 rubles. Compared to last year, the figure increased by more than 20%, reports TV Gubernia with reference to Voronezhstat.
The most expensive since the beginning of the year rose potatoes (about 27%), onions (26%) and carrots (20%). In general, in Russia, the cost of borsch set increased by 20-38%.
Experts associate the increase in prices with a reduction in sown areas. 968.2 thousand hectares were allocated for potatoes this year - 1.9% less than a year earlier; 457.2 thousand hectares for open ground vegetables, which is 4.4% less. Potato harvest in 2026 is expected to decrease by 11.5%, to 7.5 million tons. Analysts also point to the cyclical nature of the market: harvest and poor harvest years alternate, which affects prices.
Verification of Voronezh outlets showed that the real price tags differ markedly. Sellers note that the revaluation occurs almost daily, and before the weekend and holidays, basic vegetables usually rise in price by 2-5 rubles per kilogram. At the same time, potatoes in the season become cheaper in the markets, and greenhouse cucumbers and tomatoes, on the contrary, grow in price; ground vegetables behave more stable.
