Azerbaijani authorities have banned Iranian airlines from flying to the country. This was reported to the Azertage agency in the press service of Azerbaijan Airlines.

The ban went into effect on September 22. The decision is related to US sanctions against Iran, the report said.

The US Treasury on September 8 announced new restrictions under the operation against Iran “Economic pariah”. 27 Iranian airlines were sanctioned. US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has warned that airports and companies serving Iranian carriers will be cut off from the dollar settlement system.
