Information about massive erroneous taxes on owners of electric vehicles is not true. This was reported in the press service of the Federal tax service (FTS) of Russia, reports “RIA Novosti”.
The Federal Tax Service notes that reports of erroneous tax assessment have spread on social networks and the media. The magazine "Avto.ru" reported on complaints of car owners on the accrual of tax on electric cars in those regions in which it is zeroed. In particular, complaints were received from drivers from Moscow and Moscow region.
According to the Ministry, the Federal Tax Service applied benefits for transport tax for 2025, taking into account regional laws. Not in all subjects the benefit implies full exemption from tax. For example, in several regions, only electric cars with a certain capacity or cars from the list of the Ministry of Industry and Trade are not taxed.
Exemption from the tax in some regions also does not apply to cars with two types of engines - electric and internal combustion. In Moscow, there are restrictions on the provision of tax benefits. In addition, if the owner of several cars did not apply for a benefit, it will automatically apply to the car with the highest amount of tax. The FTS recommended car owners to contact the tax authority for clarification, for what they were taxed.
