Chuvashia has improved its position on the level of median wages

According to RIA Novosti, the republic took the 44th place in the ranking of Russian regions, having risen from the 49th position a year earlier.

In the second quarter of 2026, the median salary in Chuvashia amounted to 54.8 thousand rubles, and the purchasing power coefficient reached 2.39. This is the seventh result among the regions of the Volga Federal District.

The median salary shows the income of the employee in the middle of the salary distribution: half of the employees receive more than this amount, half receive less. Unlike the average salary, it depends less on the income of a small group of high-paid workers.

For comparison, the average salary in Chuvashia in April 2026 was 71,822 rubles, and in January-April - 68.7 thousand rubles.

Among other regions of the Volga Federal District, Bashkortostan showed a median salary of 57,427 rubles, taking 59th place in the ranking. In the Saratov region, the figure was 54,272 rubles, the region is located on the 48th position. The Ulyanovsk region with a median salary of 53,844 rubles took 67th place.

At the same time, purchasing power in Chuvashia was higher: a coefficient of 2.39 against 2.29 in Bashkortostan, 2.38 in Saratov and 2.19 in the Ulyanovsk region.

The growth of incomes in the republic is associated with the development of industry, the launch of new industries, the modernization of enterprises and the shortage of qualified personnel, which stimulates employers to increase wages.

At the same time, the difference between the incomes of residents of Cheboksary and small towns and rural areas remains. Therefore, further growth of wages implies the development of production and economy of the territories of the republic.
