In October, the trade network Soyuz joined the initiative, stores of which operate in 12 municipalities. The chain pledged to restrain prices for 10 commodity items: sunflower and butter, boiled sausage, sausages, biscuits, mayonnaise, pasta, dumplings, toilet paper and household soap. Reduced prices for these goods are available in all stores in Arkhangelsk, Severodvinsk, Novodvinsk, Mirny, Plesetsk, Kotlas, Koryazma, Nyandom, Kargopol, Welsk, Onega, as well as in Ustyansk and Krasnobor districts.
“For us, this is a conscious step: the confidence of the residents of Pomorie is built on affordable prices and confidence that the food basket will not rise in price tomorrow,” said Nina Popova, the manager of the retail chain.
Minister of agriculture and trade of the Arkhangelsk region Irina Bazhanova said that the work to curb wholesale and retail prices is carried out on an ongoing basis together with the Office of the Federal Antimonopoly service in the Arkhangelsk region. To date, 24 agreements have been concluded: 10 with producers of bread and bakery products, 14 with retail enterprises of consumer cooperation in the region. The list of goods under these agreements includes more than 50 items most in demand among residents: bread, tea, flour, pasta, sunflower oil, mayonnaise, sausages and sausages, paper towels and other goods.
The consumer market of the region has about 6.5 thousand stores, as well as more than a thousand stalls and pavilions. Measures to stabilize prices affect a significant part of this segment — 18 municipalities of the Arkhangelsk region.
