The rise in the incidence of respiratory infections is projected for a typical period for our country - this is the end of January - early February next year with a peak incidence in February. Simultaneous circulation of both non-influenza respiratory viruses and influenza and SARS-CoV-2 viruses is expected. According to forecasts, in the upcoming epidemic season, the activity of H3N2 influenza viruses will be reduced and H1N1 influenza virus should predominantly circulate. Influenza B virus usually joins the circulation at the end of the season, that is, it is the end of winter or the beginning of spring, and can cause a second wave of rising incidence. In the 2026/2027 season, the strain composition of vaccines has been completely updated for all three components in accordance with the recommendations of the World Health Organization for the Northern Hemisphere.
Mass vaccination has traditionally started in the country since October. The main task is to protect people at risk in accordance with the National Calendar of Preventive Vaccinations.
