Coordinator of the “Left Front” Sergei Udaltsov approved the sentence

On September 22, the Military Court of Appeal in Vlasikh (Moscow Region) rejected the defense’s complaint against the sentence of Sergei Udaltsov. He was accused of justifying terrorism using the media (part 2 of article 205.2 of the criminal code).

As already told “Kommersant”, the reason for criminal prosecution were posts in the Telegram channel of the coordinator of the “Left Front”, posted on the website of this organization and in the publication “Free press” in 2023. They expressed support for members of the Marxist circle from Ufa, who were then accused of creating a terrorist community and participating in it, as well as preparing a violent seizure of power (they received long sentences on December 16, 2025).

On December 25, 2025, the 2nd Western District Military Court appointed Sergei Udaltsov six years in a strict regime colony and banned the administration of information resources for three years.

In the complaint, Sergei Udaltsov’s lawyer Dmitry Agranovsky pointed out that the examinations conducted by the Investigative Committee of Russia and the Ministry of Justice did not see calls to terrorism in the defendant’s publications.
