Kostroma student gave to Moscow fraudsters 650 thousand rubles

In Kostroma, a 17-year-old student became the victim of a complex psychological manipulation of telephone scammers.

First, the girl called under the guise of a delivery service and found out personal data, after which they reported a hacking account on “State Services”. The attackers further intimidated her with criminal prosecution and searches, convincing her that the money stored at home would become evidence against her.

To “remove suspicions”, the victim took 650 thousand rubles, went to the station in Moscow and handed the cash to a fake “assistant investigator”.

The regional Ministry of Internal Affairs again warns citizens against communicating with strangers in instant messengers and reminds about the basic rules of digital security.
