Minsk citizen detained for the third time in a year on suspicion of drug trafficking

The measure of restraint in the form of detention was sanctioned against a 42-year-old previously repeatedly convicted citizen, who is accused of illegal trafficking of prohibited substances without the purpose of marketing, the correspondent of the Minsk-Novosti agency was told in the prosecutor's office of the Frunze district.

In the afternoon of September 15, 2026 near one of the houses on the street. I. Zhinovich drug control operatives detained a man who was suspected of trafficking psychoactive substances. During a personal search, a bundle was found in Minsk, which contained a particularly dangerous psychotropic substance alpha-PVP weighing 0.9 g.

Another criminal case was opened against the detainee.

- The accused is not officially employed anywhere, married, has two daughters, 7 and 12 years old, but does not live with his family, said Andrei Serbun, deputy prosecutor of the Frunze district. Previously, he was brought to criminal responsibility three times, twice of which in 2026 for committing similar crimes. In July, the court sentenced him to four years of restriction of freedom without sending him to an open-type correctional institution, but the citizen did not draw the proper conclusions and did not take the path of correction.

He was charged with unlawful acquisition and possession of psychotropic substances without the purpose of marketing, that is, with committing a crime under Part 1 of Art. 328 of the Criminal Code. The citizen fully admitted his guilt. A preventive measure in the form of remand in custody has been sanctioned against him.
