A resident of Minsk appealed to the duty unit on the line “102”, suspecting that his 23-year-old girlfriend was drawn into a criminal scheme by telephone scammers, the correspondent of the Minsk-Novosti agency reports with reference to the Telegram channel “Minsk Police”.
The girl was sure that she was taking part in a special operation, so she was afraid to go to the police. As a result, the employees of the Minsk police station on air transport detained the Minsk woman at the airport – she tried to leave the country.
It turned out that the attackers, posing as employees of the state control, intimidated the victim with criminal liability and a fine of 45,000 BYN. To avoid persecution and earn a positive characterization, the girl agreed to become a “freelance collector” for a while. Moreover, she wrote an application for employment.
The Minsk woman explained her departure to relatives by an urgent call to work. After that, she took the savings from three defrauded pensioners and intended to take the money abroad. The seized cash in the amount of more than 65,000 BYN law enforcement officers will return to the victims.
A criminal case has been opened for fraud.
