On the federal highway I-80 in Wyoming, there was a brutal armed attack on the driver of a commercial truck. The attacker followed the trucker to the public restroom of the Better Creek recreation area and suddenly stabbed him 17 times. Eyewitnesses from the family stopped in the parking lot heard cries for help, memorized the signs of the attacker's truck and handed them over to the road patrol.
Patrol police quickly intercepted the suspect's truck near the town of Rawlins and took into custody 45-year-old Andrew Krzysztof Bzdak. The injured driver was taken by air ambulance to a regional medical center with wounds to the neck and chest. The district attorney's office formally charged the detainee with attempted first-degree murder.
Investigators and the Sweetwater County Sheriff establish a motive for the crime. Public associations of truckers expressed serious concern about the safety of drivers on transit routes and demanded a thorough investigation of the incident.
