Deceived pensioners from Perevalsk received a refund through the Prosecutor’s office

Four pensioners from the Pereval district were victims of the same scheme. In the spring of 2025, unknown people called them and reported that their relatives were allegedly responsible for road accidents. To “settle the issue”, the elderly were offered to transfer the money through a courier – allegedly to compensate the victims.

“People acted with the best of intentions — they wanted to help loved ones. This was used by fraudsters, the prosecutor’s office noted.

In total, pensioners lost more than 800 thousand rubles. The money was taken by a courier who arrived to them - one of the members of the group acting by prior conspiracy. His case was considered by the court, a conviction was handed down.

“The criminal case against one participant who arrived to the victims at their places of residence to receive money was considered in court with a conviction,” the ministry said.

But the verdict is only part of the story. The Prosecutor’s office of the Pereval district conducted an inspection of the appeals of pensioners and appealed to the court with claims for recovery of property damage and moral damage. The court sided with the victims in terms of property damage.

"The court satisfied the requirements of the prosecutor in terms of recovery of property damage," the prosecutor's office said.
