Pensioner from Astrakhan lost more than 15.5 million rubles due to fraudsters
In the Kirov district opened a criminal case on fraud on an especially large scale. A pensioner born in 1950 lost more than 15.5 million rubles, including money from the sale of gold jewelry.

As reported in the GU of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Astrakhan region, in April 2026, a stranger wrote to a woman in the messenger. First, he called himself an employee of the Central Bank, and later – a representative of the law enforcement agency. Under the pretext of “declaring” savings, the scammers persuaded the pensioner to withdraw the money and transfer it to couriers.
The woman cashed 11 million rubles and gave them to the man. Then she took another 3.5 million rubles by taxi to one of the districts of the Astrakhan region and handed them over to a woman courier. A few days later, the pensioner handed over her gold products to the pawnshop - three chains, a bracelet, three pairs of earrings, a pendant and a brooch - for 352 thousand rubles. At the direction of the fraudsters, she transferred 990 thousand rubles to an unknown account through an ATM.
The total damage amounted to 15 490 000 rubles. At the moment, law enforcement officers identify all participants in the scheme.
Law enforcement officers remind that employees of banks and law enforcement agencies never call with a demand to “declar” funds, withdraw savings or give money to couriers. Any such calls are fraud.
By the way, over the weekend, three residents of the Astrakhan region became victims of remote crimes.
