Sports tax deduction to become more affordable: Sports Ministry proposes new rules
The Ministry of sports of Russia has developed a bill that will provide an opportunity for more citizens to claim a social tax deduction associated with the payment of sports and health services

The Ministry of Sport of Russia has developed a bill that will give an opportunity to more citizens to apply for a social tax deduction associated with the payment of sports and health services. This document provides for amendments to the Federal Law “On Physical Culture and Sport in the Russian Federation”.
The main purpose of the amendments is to expand the concept of “physical culture and health service”. Currently, it is limited, as a rule, to the activities of sports organizations. According to the bill, any legal entities (regardless of their organizational and legal form) and individual entrepreneurs will be able to provide such services if sports and physical activity is included in their profile.
At the same time, the content of health services themselves will remain unchanged. They will continue to be aimed at improving the health, physical fitness and development of citizens, including the organization of sports events.
Chairman of the Board of the Association of Lawyers of Russia Vladimir Gruzdev noted in an interview with Rossiyskaya Gazeta that such changes will allow taking into account a wider range of service providers when applying for a social tax deduction. Citizens, observing the conditions established by law, will be able to include the cost of such services in the amount deductible for personal income tax.
