In Malaysia, couples accused of ill-treatment and sexual abuse of their nine-year-old daughter have been tried. The case was reported by the New Straits Times. According to investigators, the man committed violent sexual acts against the child at the place of residence for four months: in February, April, May and October.

His wife was also charged with violence against the girl. It was this appeal that started the trial.

The cases of the spouses were considered separately. The woman was found guilty of ill-treatment of her daughter and sentenced to five years in prison. In addition, after being released for three years, she will have to comply with the obligations of proper conduct. Her husband has been charged with several counts of child rape, but he categorically denies his guilt. The trial in his case continues. If convicted, the man faces up to 30 years in prison, as well as at least ten lashes with a stick as corporal punishment.
