Land dispute over у4.3 million could lead to murder of land community leader

In the Mexican city of Naukalpan detained the alleged organizer of the murder of the head of the land community of San Francisco-Chimalp Francisco Perez Roman. According to the prosecutor's office of the state of Mexico, the cause of the massacre could be a conflict over a land plot and 1 million pesos. This was reported by N+ and El Universal.

The murder took place on August 19 on the Toluka-Nakalpan highway. Perez Roman was in a parked car when a motorcycle with two men pulled up to him. The attackers shot the community leader several times and fled.

During the investigation, the police established the alleged involvement in the crime of a man named Simon “N” and another person. The investigation believes that they organized the attack, while the direct perpetrators were two unknown persons who arrived on a motorcycle.

According to the main version of the prosecutor's office, a dispute arose between Peres Roman and the detainee over a land deal. It was about the alleged payment of 1 million pesos for the transfer of the site, which eventually did not take place. Law enforcers view the conflict as a possible motive for the murder.

Based on the evidence gathered, the prosecutor’s office obtained a warrant for the detention of Simon “N”. After his arrest, the man was taken to the Tlalnepantla penitentiary centre and handed over to the judiciary.

If found guilty, the suspect faces up to 70 years in prison.
