In Buryatia, a man seized almost 2 kilograms of drugs

In Tarbagatai district of Buryatia, police detained a 58-year-old resident of the village of Nizhny Sayantui on suspicion of illegal possession of drugs on a large scale. The man seized more than 1.9 kilograms of “banned”.

According to police, the suspect was stopped on a country road in the village of Voznesenovka during operational-search activities. During the inspection, he found two polymer bags with vegetable mass. The mass of the drug in the dried state exceeded 1.9 kg.

The man admitted what he had done and explained that he had come to the field to collect drugs for personal use, without the purpose of selling.

The investigative department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Tarbagatai district opened a criminal case under Part 2 of Art. 228 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation - illegal acquisition and possession of narcotic drugs on a large scale. The sanction of the article provides for punishment up to ten years of imprisonment. In relation to the suspect, a preventive measure was chosen in the form of a subscription not to leave and proper behavior.
