In the Karsun district of the Ulyanovsk region, a drunk driver was sentenced to 6 years for a fatal accident

The Karsun district court sentenced the driver to six years in prison for an accident in which a woman died and a child was seriously injured. The man was driving in a state of alcoholic intoxication.

The accident occurred on March 8, 2026 on the 117th kilometer of the Barysh-Inza-Karsun-Ureno-Karlinskoye highway.

The driver of the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro Max first went to the side of the road, after which the car drifted into the oncoming lane. There, the car head-on collided with the Chevrolet Niva.

As a result of the accident, the passenger of Chevrolet was seriously injured and later died in hospital. The minor passenger suffered fractures of the spine and hip, as well as a rupture of the spleen.

The examination established the presence of alcohol in the body of the culprit of the accident - 1,095 mg / l. In court, the man claimed that he drank after the collision, but this version was not confirmed.

The court appointed the driver 6 years of the colony-settlement and banned driving vehicles for 2 years and 6 months.

In addition, the convict must pay 1.5 million rubles to the wife of the deceased and 1 million rubles to the injured minor as compensation for moral damage.
