In the Smolensk region convicted adherent of radical views

In the Smolensk region sentenced 33-year-old local resident found guilty of publicly justifying the activities of banned in Russia terrorist organization. The man, who is unemployed and has radical views, opposed a special military operation.

The investigation of the FSB in the region found that in the period from March to August 2025, the defendant posted publicly through his account in the messenger materials approving terrorism, as well as comments aimed at inciting hatred against the servicemen of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.

As a result of the investigation, the criminal case under Part 2 of Art. 205.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Public appeals to terrorist activities ...”) was transferred to the court. The 2nd Western District Military Court found the man guilty and sentenced him to 5 years and 6 months in prison in a general regime correctional colony. In addition, he is prohibited from administering sites on the Internet for a period of 3 years. The sentence has not yet entered into force.
