The key figure in the investigation was Kim Jun-ho, a South Korean national living in Osaka. The investigation believes that he acted together with another person who has not yet been identified.
These people did not receive the obligatory permission of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan, but still organized to send a large batch of cars to Russia. A cargo ship from Hamad port removed 73 used cars. Their total customs value is about 229 million yen, or 118.5 million rubles.
Deliveries went in September and November last year. The local security department said that this is the first case in Japanese court practice where charges were brought for smuggling cars with an engine capacity of more than 1.9 liters.
