The driver of “Mostransavto” helped to detain a daring stowaway in Zvenigorod

Morning flight No. 1054 in Zvenigorod almost turned into a tragedy for an employee of the administrative and passenger inspection. On September 17, around 11:30 at the Dacha-1 stop in the cabin of the Mostransavto bus, a conflict broke out, which escalated into assault.

As established in the company-carrier, the 18-year-old man did not pay the fare. When it was discovered by the inspectors, the guy claimed to have handed over the cash to the driver. However, in “Mostransavto” this version was categorically denied: in the buses of the enterprise there is a cashless system, and drivers do not accept money. Moreover, the company reminded: the fare is considered ticketless if the passenger paid for it by cash or mobile transfer.

When the inspectors began to issue a fine, the stowaway behaved aggressively. According to the carrier, he pushed the female inspector and struck her, and then rushed to the exit. It was at this point that the driver who was in the front of the cabin intervened. The man grabbed the offender by the neck and held him until the arrival of law enforcement officers.

What threatens the offender

The actions of an 18-year-old passenger can receive several legal assessments.

First, ticketless travel is an administrative offence. Taking into account the fact that the offender is already 16 years old, the fine for the “hare” in the suburbs is 5,000 rubles. From May 18, 2026, the region has an increased tariff for stowaways.

Secondly, the situation with the attack on the inspector is much more serious. The controller who checks the fare on land transport is by law an official and a representative of the authorities. This is a fundamental point: an encroachment on such an employee is qualified not as domestic hooliganism, but under Article 318 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation - "The use of violence against a representative of the authorities." The sanction of this article provides for up to 10 years of imprisonment.

Position of the carrier and question of the lawfulness of the driver's actions

Mostransavto confirmed that the driver, who has been working for the company since 2020, witnessed the attack and intervened to stop the offender. The inspectors have already filed a report with the police. Records from CCTV cameras were seized from the bus, as well as data from the monitors’ wearable video recorders – all this was transferred to the security forces.

At the same time, the press service of the carrier noted that at the moment the company does not see violations in the driver’s act. The final point is to put law enforcement agencies.
