'Magda': horror out of bunker
The new season of the theater “Shalom” opened with the most brutal thriller by Michael Arditti in a brilliant translation of Olga Varshaver and Tatiana Tulchinskaya. It is based on a detailed account of what could have happened in Hitler’s bunker in 1945, when the fate of the Third Reich was already decided. The thick terrible text director Evgeny Kornyag significantly defused, the genre designated as “lullabies, turning into horror” and added to the stage narrative of human-like dolls in life size. Being the main director of the Belarusian State Puppet Theatre, he skillfully uses their absolute expressiveness and purity of gesture. And not for nothing dolls in his play look more human and alive than people.
