During the official visit to Vietnam, which began today, October 28, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Maxim Ryzhenkov took part in the ceremony of laying a wreath at the Monument to the heroes and warriors of Vietnam and the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, the correspondent of sb.by reports from Hanoi.

Monument to heroes and warriors of Vietnam is located in the northern part of Hanoi, near the central party and state institutions, near the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum. Opened on May 7, 1994, on the day of the 40th anniversary of the victory of the Vietnamese people in the battle against the French colonialists at Dien Bien Phu.
The mausoleum of Ho Chi Minh, the tomb of the first president of North Vietnam and the country’s national hero who died in 1969, is located not far from the monument, on Badinh Square, which has great historical significance: it was here that Ho Chi Minh declared Vietnam’s independence on September 2, 1945. At the entrance to this monumental structure, Ho Chi Minh’s phrase is embossed on a marble slab: “Nothing is more precious than independence and freedom.” To emphasize the unity of the nation, materials specially imported from different parts of the country were used to build the mausoleum. Granite, valuable woods and other items donated by residents of various provinces turned the mausoleum into a monument built by the whole nation as a sign of respect for its leader.
The official visit of the Belarusian Foreign Minister to Vietnam will last from 28 to 30 October. Maxim Ryzhenkov will hold talks at the highest and high levels. The minister’s work program also includes meetings with representatives of business circles, a humanitarian agenda, interviews with Belarusian and Vietnamese media.
