Russian tour operators have not issued and do not issue warnings about threats to tourists in Thailand, told RBC in the Association of tour operators of Russia (ATOR).
The association denied reports of possible problems with paid tours to Thailand for October-December. Tour operators also do not cancel paid tours and do not take other measures in connection with the dissemination of information about the alleged security threat.
According to ATOR on September 22, Thailand has not declared an official outbreak of COVID-19 and the authorities of the country did not impose restrictions related to the coronavirus. The association claims that the current incidence rate is almost three times lower than in the previous three years, and the mortality rate is 0.02%.
Asian media, including Chinese ones, have denied reports of a “severe outbreak” of COVID-19 in Thailand. They separately point to the spread of these rumors through the Russian media.
On September 18, ATOR told RBC that according to the Department of Disease Control of Thailand (DDC), the increase in the incidence of COVID-19 in the country is associated with a seasonal increase in the number of cases during the rainy season. The association noted that the number of COVID-19 cases in the country is much lower than in previous years: several times less than in 2023-2025, when 600-700 thousand cases were recorded annually. At the same time, covid cases are only in second place after the flu.
