Cars with foreign numbers offered to give a day to pay fines

The government has begun expert elaboration of a bill that will oblige owners of cars with foreign license plates to pay fines for traffic violations within a day instead of the current 60 days. The document was received by the Cabinet office, a source in the government told TASS.
"The bill has been received by the government of the Russian Federation, currently its expert study is underway," the source said.
The need for changes in the Ministry of Internal Affairs was explained by the fact that the current 60-day period allows owners of cars registered abroad to leave Russia before the execution of the fine.
According to the bill, to pay a fine for traffic violations on a car with foreign numbers will be required within a day after the entry into force of the decree. If this is not done, the car may be delayed until the fine is paid.
If the bill is approved by the government, it will be submitted to the State Duma. This phase is scheduled for 2027.
Earlier, the Ministry of Transport proposed to allow motorists to pay for paid parking during the day after the start of parking and exempt them from payment if they could not make money for reasons beyond the control of the driver. The bill provides for alternative payment methods in case of failures, the regions will be able to determine the specific mechanism independently.
