The ad service "Avito" launches a new format for selling goods through an auction, in which buyers will be able to bet on the items exhibited, the company's press service told RBC.
Bidding will last 24 hours. The seller will be able to independently set the initial cost of the goods, after which the maximum rate will be displayed in the ad. At the end of the auction, the system will automatically determine the winner.
The buyer who offered the largest amount will be given 12 hours to pay through the "Avito Delivery". If he does not have time to pay for the goods, he can go to the participant with the second highest rate. If the second participant also does not complete the payment, the ad will return to the usual format of sale. It will not be possible to cancel the confirmed rate.
The auction can be launched when the announcement is published or later if the platform registers an increased interest in the product.
The new format is available in most categories including clothing, electronics, furniture and collectibles. At auction, you can exhibit goods in a single copy worth from 10 to 150 thousand rubles.
At the start, private sellers without professional tariffs can use the auction, having a rating above four stars and at least one transaction through Avito Delivery. To participate in the bidding can users who have previously made purchases through delivery. At the same time, one buyer can place bets in no more than five auctions.
“The auction gives this decision to demand: the seller gets a fair price, and the buyers – a chance to compete for the find,” said Alena Medvedeva, director of transactional products at Avito Goods.
In July, Avito confirmed to RBC that the company is considering the possibility of launching a dating service inside the main application.
