Grandson of Porsche founder Gerhard Porsche
The representative of the third generation of the automotive dynasty died in the circle of his family at the 89th year of life. Gerhard Porsche invested in Carinthia, Austria, where he created an automobile museum and developed the hotel business

At the 89th year of life died Gerhard Porsche, grandson of the founder of the car company Porsche Ferdinand Porsche. This is stated in the obituary published on the website of the Austrian funeral agency Schoosleitner Bestattung.
Gerhard Porsche died on October 30, 2026 with his family. The cause of death was not specified.
Farewell to Gerhard Porsche will be held on November 17 from 9:00 to 18:00 in the ritual hall of Marcus in the Austrian city of Talgau. The burial of the urn with ashes will take place later in a narrow family circle, the agency specifies.
According to Bild, Gerhard Porsche belonged to the third generation of the dynasty. His grandfather Ferdinand Porsche was a famous automotive designer and founder of the family business, and his father Ferry Porsche founded the sports car brand Porsche. Gerhard was also the brother of Wolfgang Porsche, one of the most prominent members of the family, who is a shareholder and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Porsche AG
Unlike his brother, Gerhard Porsche rarely appeared in public and led a secluded lifestyle. He was particularly close to the Metnitztal Valley in the Austrian state of Carinthia, where he built a second home and over the years invested in a small settlement.
Porsche then rebuilt the old Seppenbauer Hotel, on the site of which a hotel with a sauna and fitness center, as well as a conference center, appeared. Subsequently, the hotel was named Das Salvator – Iris Porsche Landhotel in honor of his wife.
Another project of Gerhard Porsche was the Automobile Museum, which opened in St. Zalvatore in 2010. The collection includes Porsche, Rolls-Royce and Bentley cars, rare models, racing cars, tractors, motorcycles and scooters. In 2016, the museum was expanded: a separate building was allocated for the exhibition, where historical agricultural equipment and additional sports and racing cars were placed. In addition, a few kilometers from the village, Porsche restored the Stegerhof farm, where horses were placed.
The history of Porsche began in 1931 when Ferdinand Porsche, together with two partners, founded a design office in Stuttgart. After World War II, his son Ferry Porsche turned him into a sports car manufacturer. In 1948, the first car under the family brand, the Porsche 356, appeared. Subsequently, the company became one of the world's famous manufacturers of sports cars. Its most recognizable model is the Porsche 911.
