The Moscow Prosecutor’s Office reported violations in the production of medicines for veterinary use. The department does not specify which manufacturer is in question. According to state agencies TASS and RIA Novosti, this is Vetbiohim, which produces a vaccine for dogs Multican-6.
The prosecutor’s office said it was conducting an inspection against a “private manufacturer of drugs for veterinary use” due to complaints received. As a result of the audit, the head of the commercial organization made a submission. Also “initiated bringing the guilty persons to administrative responsibility”. The issue of initiating a criminal case is being resolved.
Cases of dog deaths after vaccination became known in August: complaints were received from pet owners in Yaroslavl, Moscow, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kostroma. Vetbiohim claimed that vaccination in itself does not prove the connection between the drug and the death of the animal. In early September, the Rosselkhoznadzor suspended the circulation of Multican-8 series No. 20, 21, as well as the Multican-6 series No. 11, 12. The agency identified in the 20th series of the vaccine the Auieschi virus (known as pseudo-rabies, provokes severe itching and neurological disorders in animals). After that, Vetbiohim stopped the release of Multican vaccines. The head of the Rosselkhoznadzor Sergey Dankvert said that during the production of the vaccine, “serious violations” of the technology were committed, because of which Vetbiokhim faces deprivation of its license.
